Every October we are the glad recipients of nature's grandest display, autumn foliage. This year is exceptional, probably because we had a wet spring and summer and the trees have had no distress. As I was driving south on 495 this morning, I was mesmerized by the brilliant golds, sparkling oranges, and gleaming crimson reds. So many times I wished I could simply blink an eye and capture a digital image without pulling out a camera (difficult and dangerous to do while driving). The news reporters say we haven't reached 'peak', yet, but this is as near perfect as one could hope for.
Tomorrow is A's 8th birthday. I've found some kites for the guests, and we'll take them all to Grandpa's football field for some fun kite-flying. I had originally suggested that the dad's take the little ones for this afternoon of togetherness, but I was immediately reminded that the Patriots have a game that the men don't want to miss, so it will probably be the moms who "go-fly-a-kite".
