Mendon notes

Another month has passed, and I'm thinking that I need to let folks know that all is fine here. Just a little cool (temps haven't risen above 75 is ages, nights are cool enough for light blankets), no AC needed. However, in April, when we did have the 93 degree day, I discovered that the AC in car wasn't working. Finally made an appointment at the garage to have that fixed. They couldn't find the leak, but did re-charge the freon and added a dye, told me to use the AC for 2 weeks and bring it back in (this is still covered by warranty). That I did, but I didn't enjoy driving around wearing sweatshirt or fleece jacket so that I could run the AC (but I did it). Then on Wednesday, when I returned, they still couldn't find a leak. Soooooo.

Tony and I were in Putnam to day for weekly baking session. The facade is nearly finished. The scaffolding came down and the awnings went up today. Awnings still need to be added to the side windows, but the front looks awesome! When we left, the workmen were still adjusting the entry awning, so you'll see a couple of ladders there. Next week, I'll be able to take a wide-angled picture of whole cafe without showing piles of planks and tubing lying on the sidewalks.

Although you can't see it in the pictures, the main floor front windows slide open. With the awnings shading the hot sun and the open windows, the place should be a whole lot cooler this summer.
