Weekend roundup.

Spring is really on its way! Although we are still shivering with below freezing temps, the sun is definitely higher, days warm up nicely, our storms this month have been rain, with more rain due tomorrow. But the biggest sign is that the swans have come back...we saw them in Rice City Pond yesterday (that's in the Blackstone Valley State Park/National Heritage Corridor). I think it is a bit early for them, but they must know something that we don't.

I'm gathering all my documents to begin the tax preps. Ours is pretty easy, as we don't have extra homes, or complicated investments. Our finances are pretty simple and, at this stage, we don't even have enough deductions to help out.

Our quilt guild is preparing for it's semi-annual Quilt Show at the end of March. A special feature this year is embellished boxer shorts, an exhibit that will raise monies for Prostate Cancer Research. Two years ago, we had embellished bras (they were fantastic!), with proceeds going to Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation. At the section where these are exhibited, cans are set up at each entry for contributions that indicated the item that the viewer thinks is the best. The entry with the most money is declared the 'winner', and all money is put into the charity fund. We each sew up a pair of boxer shorts, and then add whatever we choose (to get a chuckle from visitors to the show). My theme is bees, the fabric has honey bees all over it. I haven't decided how much or just how to embellish it yet. Anything goes, so this one may have jewels and/or embroidery.
