Ahhh....New England 'spring'

Yes, more snow. We got about 8-10 inches this week, with more expected on Tuesday. Until Friday, our ground was bare. However, a little snow doesn't slow down New Englanders, the traffic is the same as ever. Of course, this means a few more fender-benders than usual...some folks don't remember that snow means slippery driving. Days are warmer (expected to be in 40s today) and the snow will begin to melt. The powder that is currently on the ground will begin to take on the sticky charactistics needed for snowmen. The neighbor kids and Adriana are planning on building a huge snowman this afternoon, but will have him reclining so that they can make him huge. In fact, the plan right now is to give him sunglasses, suntan lotion and an umbrella to look like he's basking on a Florida beach. The drawing is cute. Now we'll see if they can pull this one off. In the meantime, sledding is lots of fun!
We're looking at seed catalogs and dreaming of spring plantings, summer gardens. The maple sap is running and our local State Park/National Heritage Corridor is opening the sugar house next weekend for demos. We'll probably take Adriana there on Sunday, to tap trees, gather sap, bring it to the sugar house, watch the boil, and sample some sweetness. Even though this process happens in March with cold and snow, it is a welcome harbinger of coming spring warmth. By April, the run will be over.
Did you see the lunar eclipse this week? The full moon on the following evening was spectacular! ! ! I read that the next eclipse will be in 2010...and that isn't so far away, is it?
