Luigi's quest

Our summer visitor is hoping to extend his visit for a year in order to improve his English language expertise. To this end, Luigi is applying for teaching position in high schools. His applications have already gone out to several private high schools and a few universities. Our local high school is looking for an Italian language teacher for the 2007-2008 school year...how appropriate. Thus, we're persuing leads with a series of phone calls, mailed packets of resumes, transcripts and letters of recommendations. I think a total of 10-12 have already gone out. After a personal chance meeting with the high school principal at a social event, Luigi came away with a good feeling about his chances. Now, we await a call for a formal interview.
We're preparing for a week visit from our NC family...six of them. All extra sleeping areas are readied and menus planned. It will be soooo good to see them, again. I've always told them that I want to tie a knot in the high way between New England and NC so that we could make this trip more often. We manage to stay in close contact with e-mails and phone calls, but there is nothing quite like a good hug!
We're finishing our third day of HHH (high 90s) weather with promises of cooling 70s for the weekend. That will be a welcome relief (we're not as fully AC'd as many other areas of the country). As I am heading off to Univ of RI for a Northeast Regional English Handbell Festival and we all (900 +/-) would much appreciate comfortable weather for the marathon of rehearsals and classes. More on this later.

We're excited! I'll be picking up laundry from the 2 campers today or tomorrow so I can get their things washed and repacked. After talking to a number of people who are all heading north this weekend, Mark has decided to leave earlier than originally planned - around 2:00 AM - so we should be arriving sometime in the mid-to-late afternoon. Have fun hand-belling!
