Today, all are here for an annual "Clean Up Grandpa's Yard for the Winter" workday. We had butternut squash soup, chicken pie, apple crisp and cold drinks. Now, they are back at yard-work while I've just made the coffee and set out more desserts (from the cafe).
They are raking and blowing leaves, stacking wood, cleaning out gardens, etc. Adriana is right in the middle of all the activity, stacking wood and riding the trailer back to the shed for more. She tried jumping into a pile of leaves off the space-trolley, but was agast that she bumped her bottom on the bottom. "It was fun last year, not fun this year." She said that she plunged right through the entire pile to the bottom.
Bought a pumpkin yesterday with the intention of carving a jack-o-lantern. However, when we got it home, Adriana decided that she didn't want to cut the pumpkin. The pumpkin got a name, a band-aid on a blemish, and went to bed in the doll's bed. It's been caressed, polished and cleaned until it actually gleams. Oh, the wonderful imagination of a 7-yr old.
I expect the gang to come in for the football game soon.
Oh, by the way, our first frost is due tonight. Very late for this area.
