With the last of the left-overs gone, we're settling in to preparations for the next holiday. We had 8 at the table for Thanksgiving...one of the smallest gathering we've had in years. I think it was only matched 2 years ago. Sabrina was unable to be with us this year.
I've set my annual goal to 'make' every gift that I give, and am on my way. I never reach the goal at 100%, but having such a goal gives me incentive to make most of the gifts. I have 10 finished, 3 more in progress and 2 on table.
During writing this post, I got a phone call. It was a a sad message from my sister...her husband has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer, metasis in liver. Apparently, surgery is not being planned, but he'll undergo chemo-therapy very soon (I think beginning this week). This is not the news we like to hear, and they need prayers. Sue asked for dietary suggestions as the internet sites she has been searching have indicated that the diet for this will be similar to that for Crohn's, and we have that in our immediate family. I've contacted a former student of mine who is a dietician at Morton Hospital for menus that will help Susan plan meals for David. Our lives can turn on a dime...one day everything is fine, an hour later all changes.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that news. I'll definitely be praying for them, for wisdom and direction in treatment, for peace, and for healing.
Love, Beth
