Missing shrubs

Would you believe? ? ? Someone has been stealing the shrubs from the pots on the new patio and also lifting fern plants from 5 of the window boxes inside the cafe. It's not as if these are rare and/or expensive plants...they all came from WalMart. I just can't imagine what these people are thinking, especially since the inside ones have to be taken while cafe is open. These plantings have been in place for little over 1 week. At this rate, the pots will be bare by Memorial Day.

We are amidst pollen season, and those pesky little morsels are making life miserable...sneezing, itchy eyes, scratchy throats, and constant sniffling. We've been awaiting warmer weather for weeks, but now that it's here, we can't seem to enjoy it at its fullest. Can't go anywhere without the box of tissues in hand.

I've just drafted a replica of a stained glass window that is over the door of the 'old' cafe. Now am recreating it in fabric, to be a quilted wall-hanging soon...watch for a picture soon. I'm thinking of labeling it as "Windows of Putnam #1". Being a Victorian-era town, Putnam is a treasure-trove of stained glass. I find myself eyeing windows everywhere with the notion that it will or won't make a great quilt. I've found some very interesting ones with beautiful colors. Hand-dyed and batik fabrics make the perfect match for this kind of project, so when I visit fabric shops, I pick up beautiful fat-quarters in these suitable fabrics. Not that I've needed some new projects...I'm currently the queen of UFOs (unfinished fabric objects). But, then, that's what retirement is for, isn't it?
