We are amidst the whirl-wind last weeks of senior year in high school. The second prom...Nipmuc HS...was held last night at Lakeview Pavilion in Foxboro. Chartered buses and limos transported the guests, giving much relief to anxious parents. Giulia and Domenico were treated to customs not encountered in their home schools. Giulia again said that she felt like a princess.
Again, as for the UHS prom, she had been given a gown that fit her to a 'tee'. After pictures in our yard, I took them to the rendevous point to pick up the chartered bus. At midnight, I met the bus, and took them to the school (I had their leisure (jeans, sneakers) clothes in the car) for an all-night locked-in "After Prom Party" put on by parents. There were games and activities, prizes, movies, and lots of food. At 5 am, I arrived to see tired and be-draggled teens emerging from the school to waiting cars. These two slept on the way home, and have been napping all day. Surprised??? I'm not hearing much activity from upstairs, yet.
Next week are the last days of classes, with a class trip to Boston on Friday. They will walk part of the Freedom Trail, ride the "Duck Tour" of Boston's highlights, eat at Hard Rock Cafe, and take in a Red Sox game, among other events. It's an all-day affair.
The following week will be Art Show, Awards Night, Baccalaureate, rehearsals, and finally Graduation on June 5. Then.....the myriad of graduation parties clutters the calendar for the remaining week of her year here. Bon Voyage is June 16. Such a fast year.
